We successfully hosted KAIPO’s 2024 Golf Outing in collaboration with the Korean-American Intellectual Property Bar Association (KAIPBA) on a beautiful Saturday afternoon, September 14th, at 12:00 PM at the Lake Course of Twin Lakes Golf Course. The following KAIPO members took part in the event: Taelor Kim, Dong Wook Kim, Sung Sik Ahn, Bong Sook Baek, Seung Ho Lee, Chi Ho Lee, Su Chul Kim (team captain), and Jae Young Lee. This year’s format was a modified President’s Cup, with an equal number of golfers from KAIPO and KAIPBA. We’re proud to announce that the trophy was awarded to KAIPO, marking our second consecutive win in 2023 and 2024! In the individual contests, the Longest Drive awards went to Manyeol Han (KAIPBA) and Tae-hyun Lee (KAIPBA), while the Closest to the Pin awards were claimed by Seung Ho Lee (KAIPO) and Chi Ho Lee (KAIPO). After the competition, participants gathered at Jang Won Restaurant in Centreville to enjoy a delicious Korean-Chinese meal. We look forward to seeing more of you at next year’s event!

On July 12^th, KAIPO hosted its first regional happy hour in Carrollton, Texas! As part of our ongoing efforts to enhance remote engagement among KAIPO members and friends across our regional offices nationwide, we hope that this event marks the beginning of a series that will expand to other areas in the near future.

Kudos to Jae Y. Lee for organizing the event, and our president, Taelor Kim, for making the trip to Texas!

Thank you all for coming out to our Fall Picnic this weekend to enjoy the food and company of others.  It was great to see some of our new members including Woo Rhim who flew in from Dallas with his wife, Jun Kwon that is thriving in his second year at the AI workgroup, Jahae Kim that just passed her probationary year (congrats!), and Kim Horger that joined us with her partner.  We also share the good news of our newly wedded Chanel Jhin who is currently serving as KAIPO’s secretary, and celebrate Woojoo Lee’s first picnic outing (our long time contributing member Justin Lee’s baby boy).  Our guests included Hyun-suk Lim (IP attaché) and Tae Hyun Lee (PCT Korea President) who recently hosted 2023 Korea-U.S. IP Forum and PCT Roundtable  at the Westin next to the USPTO campus.

Our deepest appreciation goes out to Euncha Cherry who prepared 70lbs of delicious LA galbi and all other foods for everyone to enjoy.  Thank you to all our grill masters that kept the fire going and coated the galbi with the “fire” flavor.  We also want to thank our senior members who came out and shared thoughtful insights to our new examiners.  We raised more funds through generous sponsorship from our senior members at the picnic (Jong-Suk Lee, Minsun Harvey, Eunsook Choi, Jessica Han, Kinam Park, Chiho Lee).  Thank you for your support!  Lastly, our appreciation goes out to the officers and board members that planned and executed the picnic (Sisley, Jae, Seong Ah, Tom, Dae, Euncha, Tammy, James Choi, Moo, Chanel, Taelor).
