KAIPO participated in the Employee Fair portion of new Employee Experience (NEX@USPTO) series of events in March 9, 2023. Many employees have been hired in the virtual space and have not received their badges. To that end, the Patents Organization is sponsoring a New Employee Experience (NEX@USPTO) series of events in March. The events are for new employees only living within a 50-mile radius of our Alexandria, Va., headquarters. New employees will meet Patents leadership, tour the campus, get their PIV/badge, meet co-workers, and participate in training and engagement activities. Visit the NEX@USPTO site for more information. It was great opportunity to meet those new examiners and connect them to KAIPO.

USPTO Global IP Event
On March 9, 2023, KAIPO sponsored coffee, tea and water breaks during the three-day event “Meeting on Mentoring, Affinity Groups and the Collection of Demographic Data.” The Office of International Patent Cooperation hosts nearly 50 delegates from global intellectual property offices (IPOs) both in person and online for a private, three-day workshop on the priority topics of mentorship, voluntary employee organizations and demographic data. The event aligns with the 2023 International Women’s Day theme, “DigitALL: Innovation and technology for gender equality” and as such, topics will address the current and future-state of underrepresentation among women within the IP ecosystem.
This was an opportunity for KAIPO to introduce us to the delegates, answer questions and network.
Hello members and friends of KAIPO,

The event kicked off with welcoming remarks from Young-Jae Kim, Minister of Economic Affairs, and Chung K. Pak, Chief Administrative Law Judge of the Maryland Office of Administrative Hearings. Various Korean IP organizations across U.S. gathered at the forum and shared their knowledge and initiatives in their respective IP space. Participants included leaders and representatives from the Embassy of the Republic of Korea, Korea Patent Attorneys Association (KPAA), Korea-American Intellectual Property Bar Association (KAIPBA), Korean-American Intellectual Property Organization (KAIPO) at the USPTO, KOTRA IP-Desk (New York and Los Angeles), PCT Korea Center, Korean Intellectual Property Office (KIPO), GI Research, and Korea Institute of Intellectual Property Promotion (KIPRO). Sixteen of our KAIPO members, officers, and guests joined the forum and got together for a social event afterwards.
